For Nikki, her journey to photography wasn’t a straight line, yet somehow it was both obvious and inevitable. While she’s been carting her camera with her on adventures around the country and world for 20 years, it wasn’t until she attended a wedding in South Africa and found herself on safari, camping under the stars in Botswana and Zimbabwe, that her passion for photography was reignited. She hasn’t been spotted without a camera in hand since. Her strength lies in capturing the moments most miss, the moments that tell the story behind the faces of her subjects. In the words of Ansel Adams, “A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.” The indescribable feeling of the moment, the essence of a person, the otherwise unnoticed details – these are the shots Nikki captures through her lens.
